Applications: The Diamond reaming shell is widely used for mineral exploration, geological exploration, water and electricity, soil investigation, hydro-geological exploration, etc.
Reaming shells are designed to be placed behind the core bit to ensure hole diameter maintenance and assist core barrel stabilization. This helps reach the bottom of a borehole without reaming when inserting a new core bit.
The reaming shells protect hole diameter, guide drilling holes to prevent size reduction and inclination increase as bit matrix wears down for steady drilling.
The reaming shells are typically 0.3-0.5mm larger than drill bits, increasing to 0.5-0.7mm for soft formations. For hard formations, the reaming shells should be less than 0.3mm, with diamond reaming shells being the optimal choice.
Produced with diamond panel pads using specially chosen diamonds, reaming shells generally last 3-4 times longer than core bits. They should be replaced when worn under gauge to prevent undersized bore holes.
Reaming shells, set with natural or synthetic diamond, couple the drill bit with the core barrel. They ream the hole to a specific diameter for core barrel clearance and new bit replacement, acting as a stabilizer for the drill bit.
We offer four types of reaming shells for different rock formations:
